1. Receipt and referral to the Human Services Planning Board for review and analysis of the communication from John Bolognone, City Clerk, City of Kingston, dated February 5, 2016 regarding “Basic Income Guarantee for All Canadians”.

 

2. Receipt of the communication from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Municipal Services Office – Central Ontario in Cooperation with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, regarding “Forum - The Tipping Point: Incenting Purpose-Built Rental Housing in Central Ontario” on March 30, 2016.

Other Business

 

18. Meeting with Prime Minister regarding Infrastructure Priorities

 

Regional Chair Emmerson advised that he and other York Region elected officials and senior staff recently met with the Prime Minister and other senior federal officials in Ottawa to promote the Region’s infrastructure priorities and seek funding from the Government of Canada.  Regional Chair Emmerson advised that they were well received, as York Region’s priorities appear to align with the priorities of the Government of Canada. 

 

19. Provincial Budget Information Event

 

An information event will be held at The Kingbridge Conference Centre in King City on Friday, March 4 from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. where some of York Region’s Liberal MPPs will share information about the recently unveiled Provincial budget.

20. Council Education Session

 

Committee was reminded that a special meeting of Regional Council, in the form of an education session that is closed to the public, will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 in the Council Chambers, Regional Administrative Centre, 17250 Yonge Street, Newmarket, Ontario, commencing at 9 a.m.

The purpose of the meeting is to educate Members of Council on the Municipal Comprehensive Review process including the legislative and policy context and density and intensification requirements.

 

21. Transportation Master Plan Update

 

The Commissioner of Transportation provided a verbal update on the status of the presentations to the local municipalities regarding the Transportation Master Plan.

 

Private Session

 

Committee of the Whole resolved into private session at 10:59 a.m. to consider the following:

 

1. Private Attachment to Clause 14 – Unionville Redevelopment Direct Purchase from Minto – Land Acquisition

 

Committee of the Whole resumed in public session at 12:10 p.m. and reported the following:
