Emergencies can range from individual medical emergencies to emergencies affecting the entire population. During such events, York Region responds with law enforcement and medical services. In addition, York Region prepares residents for the possibility of large-scale emergencies and proactively plans ahead to protect people and property.

York Region has plans in place to deal with emergencies caused by people, technology and nature. They help protect residents and businesses in case of an emergency.

Although emergencies are rare, it is a good idea to be prepared and have a plan, just in case. York Region's emergency preparedness tools can help the whole family prepare for emergency situations.

Emergency Social Services helps residents who have been forced from their homes by fire, floods, ice storms or other emergencies.

York Region’s paramedics are available to respond to medical emergencies any time, day or night. They provide medical attention and a safe ride to the hospital.

The York Regional Police are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week responding to emergencies, working to prevent crimes before they happen and much more.
