York Region facilities closed to the public

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, York Region facilities are currently closed to the public. A number of services have also been impacted.

Details on disruptions and closures will be updated as the situation evolves.

Key services essential to York Region continue, including Paramedic Services, Water, Waste Management, Shelter Services, Long-term Care, Road Operations and York Region Transit.

EarlyON

EarlyON programs in York Region are closed from March 14, 2020 until April 5, 2020.

On March 17, the Government of Ontario ordered the closure of licensed child care centres in York Region.

Court Services

Provincial Offenses Courts

To help reduce the transmission of COVID-19, Provincial Offences courts will be closed until Friday, May 29. If you have a court appearance scheduled during this time, you are not required to attend court. All matters scheduled in the York Region Provincial Offences courts between March 16 and May 29 will be postponed to a later date. You will receive a new trial notice in the future.

Please note: York Region Court Services and Prosecution offices will be closed until further notice. All time periods for applications have been extended until further notice. We will not accept applications (i.e time extensions, re-openings, trial requests, serving an appeal, disclosure requests) until further notice. Exception: If your driver’s license was suspended due to an overdue fine, you may request a time extension or re-opening by submitting an application to NewmarketPOA@york.ca. You can pay your tickets at paytickets.ca

Long-term Care

Visiting Policy

Visitors to Long Term Care Homes are restricted to essential visitors only. An essential visitor is anyone who has a resident who is very ill or involved in end of life care.

Active screening is in place for everyone accessing our Long-Term Care Homes.

Private caregivers and companions are not permitted in the Homes at this time. Due to redeployment, we have staff available to provide care and help residents with dining.  Please be assured that the Homes are providing residents with the care and dining assistance they require.


Recreation activities/lunch programs

Off-site recreation activities, lunch programs and external outings are suspended.

We will minimize socializing of residents from different Home Areas for recreational activities


Volunteers/Tuck Shop

Volunteer work is suspended immediately, including the Tuck Shop.


Adult Day Programs

Adult Day Programs located in Maple and Keswick will be closed, effective March 23 to April 20

Families have been notified of the closure.

Public consultations were in progress for the Municipal Comprehensive Review to update the York Region Official Plan.

Sexual Health Clinics

Sexual Health Clinics are closed for the time being.
