The Open Roads program ensures lanes remain open as much as possible, restrict lane closures and keep congestion at a minimum around large Region construction projects.
We've developed this program to help developers, businesses, residents and utility companies understand the road activities timelines and options available to them for each area.

Centre Street, Bathurst Street and Highway 7
York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRTC) is building rapidways on Centre Street between Dufferin Street and Bathurst Street, Bathurst Street between Centre Street and Highway 7 and, Highway 7 between Bathurst Street and Yonge Street. We’re committed to managing road activities surrounding these rapidways (parallel and intersecting).

If you need to do work in this area a Road occupancy permit is required and will be issued for the dates and times requested. A condition of the permit requires that the VivaNext Group must be notified and, more specific dates and times must be reviewed and approved, by them, to avoid Constructor Issues. Information will be provided on your permit indicating who to contact.

If you need to work in this area and you need to partially or fully close one or more lanes, a review of your request will be done and you may be asked if the work can be completed without closing lanes. If so, your permit will be issued with our standard hours from 9:30am to 3:30pm. If not, you may be asked to adjust the working times to evenings or weekends.
Highway 7 from Bruce Street to Edgeley Boulevard
York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRTC) is building rapidways on Highway 7 between Bruce Street and Edgeley Boulevard. We’re committed to managing road activities surrounding these rapidways (parallel and intersecting).
