Each summer, in partnership with the Government of Ontario, the York Small Business Enterprise Centre administers its Summer Company program. 

Summer Company helps support young entrepreneurs in Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Newmarket, and Whitchurch-Stouffville start or grow their business and develop skills.

What you need to know before you apply

To be eligible to apply for Summer Company support, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be between the ages of 15 to 29 by April 30, 2025
  2. Be a student returning to school in the fall of 2025
  3. Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident living in Ontario
  4. Be starting a new business 
  5. Plan to operate in Ontario
  6. Have not received a previous Summer Company award
  7. Not be employed elsewhere working or attending school more than 12 hours per week during the duration of the program
  8. Not operate your Summer Company business as a partnership
