Road closures and lane restrictions are sometimes necessary to complete emergency repairs and planned road improvement projects. York Region is committed to re-opening roads as quickly as possible so traffic flow can return to normal.

A road closure is necessary to protect Jefferson Salamanders, an endangered species. The salamanders cross Stouffville Road to leave summer breeding grounds and return to their winter habitat. Road closures will only occur when it rains because the salamanders only make the passage during rain events. |
