Construction begins on Humber Sewage Forcemain Rehabilitation
York Region is rehabilitating a sewage forcemain located in the hydro corridor south of Highway 407, parallel to Steeles Avenue, from Islington Avenue to Jane Street, in the City of Vaughan. This work will extend the life of the sewer and ensure reliable service.
Duration
March 2026 to November 2027
- Work will occur Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Weekend and overnight work will occur as needed
Impacts
- No planned impact to water or wastewater services
- Access to all residents and businesses will be maintained
- As part of site preparations, some trees may be removed; York Region staff and forestry experts will be on-site monitoring the tree removal and when the work is completed, the area will be restored and native trees planted
- Due to the nature of the work, there will be construction vehicles in the area. A dedicated trucking route will be used and truck traffic will be controlled to reduce any disruption
- Construction will be limited to the work site, however there may be increased construction-related traffic in and out of the site
- There will be some construction-related noise and dust; every effort to minimize this will be made
As with all construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other conditions; York Region will provide advance notice where possible.
