Notice of Night Work on Lake Simcoe
York Region is making improvements to the Georgina Water Treatment Plant to continue providing reliable and high-quality water services to the community. As part of this work, marine crews will be working overnight on Lake Simcoe and near Willow Wharf Park. Overnight work is necessary to efficiently complete the work and minimize environmental impacts by working outside sensitive fish spawning and rearing seasons.
Duration: July 15 to October 30, 2026
Impacts
- No planned impacts to water services are expected
- Residents may experience noise from work on Lake Simcoe and equipment movement; York Region will implement noise mitigation measures and conduct continuous monitoring
- Additional lighting will be used to improve nighttime working conditions, visibility and safety
- Due to the overnight work, there will be additional construction vehicles in the area
- Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained
- Local marinas will be notified of the work
- Travellers may experience temporary delays along Lake Drive East at Kennedy Road intersection
As with all construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather and changing lake conditions on Lake Simcoe. York Region will provide advance notice where possible.
