Notice of Night Work - Markham Highway 7 Watermain Rehabilitation

Night Work is required for York Region to replace and rehabilitate a 2.8 kilometre section of the Markham Bullock Church Highway 7 Watermain, between Hawkridge Avenue and Ninth Line.

Description

  • Installing 300 millimetre watermain across Highway 7 

  • Installing 600 millimetre watermain across Cosburn Road, Christman Court and Wootten Way

  • Watermain connections on Ninth Line, south of Rose Way and at Ninth Line and Church Street

Duration and Traffic Restrictions

Traffic restrictions will occur between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.; timeline may be adjusted due to weather or other conditions.

September 28 to 29, 2026 – Markham Road (Main Street) and Highway 7:

  • Lane restrictions on Highway 7 in both directions

October 13 to 14, 2026 – Cosburn Road and Highway 7:

  • Local access to Cosburn Road south of Highway 7

October 13 to 28, 2026 – Ninth Line from Rose Way to Church Street:

  • Lane restrictions on Ninth Line in both directions and local access to/from Church Street from Ninth Line

November 12 to 13, 2026 – Christman Court and Highway 7:

  • Local access to/from Christman Court, south of Highway 7

December 10 to 11, 2026 – Wootten Way and Highway 7:

  • Local access to/from Wootten Way, south of Highway 7

Impacts

  • No planned impacts to water or wastewater services

  • Access to all residents and businesses will be maintained

  • There will be some construction related noise and dust, every effort to minimize this will be made

  • Due to the night work, there will be additional construction vehicles in the area

As with all construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other conditions; York Region will provide advance notice when possible.
