Scheduled equipment upgrades – Newmarket Sewage Pumping Station
From May 19 to 22, 2026, the chemical treatment system at the Newmarket Sewage Pumping Station at 360 Bayview Parkway in the Town of Newmarket will be turned off for equipment upgrades. There will be no disruption to water or wastewater services.
The tank contains safe, effective chemicals used to reduce sanitary sewer odour. As a result of the tank being turned off, residents and businesses may notice a slight odour between May 19 and 23, coming from the sanitary maintenance hole at Yonge Street and North Lake Road in the City of Richmond Hill.
To help minimize odour, York Region will increase the hydrogen peroxide dosage at the Aurora Sewage Pumping Station during the maintenance work. This is a safe and effective way to reduce odour in sewage and wastewater. This treatment will not impact services or residents.
When
