York Region is rehabilitating a culvert on Warden Avenue south of Major Mackenzie Drive East. Culverts allow water and wildlife to pass freely under the road.

Duration: Early summer 2025 to 2026

Impacts to Travellers

  • Following the recent significant rainfalls, York Region is making urgent repairs to Warden Avenue south of Major Mackenzie Drive in the City of Markham
  • To complete these repairs safely, a road closure on Warden Avenue from Major Mackenzie Drive to 16th Avenue is required
    • Warden Avenue is closed to through traffic south of Major Mackenzie Drive until repairs are complete
    • Local traffic is only permitted from 16th Avenue to the road closure
    • Access to homes and businesses will be maintained
  • Work will occur Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekends when required
  • The road will remain open to through traffic; however, lane restrictions are required:
    • Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    • Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. as required

Access to homes and businesses will be maintained. As with all construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather. York Region will provide advance notice where possible.
