Celebrating Welcoming Week
Welcoming Week is an annual opportunity to recognize and celebrate the people, places and values that help everyone feel welcome in York Region. This year’s celebration will take place from September 10 to 19, 2026.
In York Region, we recognize how important newcomers are as they represent the biggest driver of our population growth, strengthen the regional economy and enrich the social fabric of our local communities. Welcoming Week is an excellent opportunity to celebrate this.
York Region invites you to celebrate Welcoming Week by:

- Sharing how you are creating a welcoming place for newcomers by posting to social media using #YRWelcomingWeek2026
- Connecting directly with a newcomer in your community
