York Region is rehabilitating bridges and improving King Road and Keele Street
Night paving at the intersection of King Road and Keele Street will occur from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2026.
King Road:
- Rehabilitation of the bridge west of Keele Street is complete
- All lanes of King Road, including sidewalks, are now open
Keele Street:
- Rehabilitating the bridge north of King Road continues and is expected to be complete in December 2026
- Improvements and pavement restoration at Keele Street and King Road are ongoing
- Installation of northbound left turn lanes at King Road and a pedestrian signal south of King Road are complete
- Northbound left turn lanes at King Road and a new pedestrian signal south of King Road have been installed on Keele Street as well as new parking restrictions applied
Project Update
York Region continues making improvements to King Road and Keele Street in Township of King. As part of this project, York Region’s contractor will be paving the intersection of King Road and Keele Street.
King Road and Keele Street will remain open; however, access through the intersection will be restricted. Police will be present to direct traffic during construction.
No on-street parking is permitted during paving operations.
Access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
Local residents may experience construction noise during these operations. York Region’s contractor will make every effort to avoid unnecessary noise.
Additional night work will be required to complete paving and asphalt repairs. The dates will be posted in advance on york.ca/RoadConstruction and on York Region’s social media channels.
Impacts to Travellers
- Lane restrictions are required to complete paving operations
- Intermittent lane restrictions may be required to complete other works
Project Timeline
King Road bridge work is complete. Construction on the Keele Street bridge and intersection of King Road and Keele Street is expected to be complete by the end of 2026.
As with all construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather. York Region will provide advance notice whenever possible. We understand construction causes inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
