Recognizing World AIDS Day 2025
On behalf of York Regional Council and The Regional Municipality of York, we recognize December 1, 2025, as World AIDS Day. This is an important opportunity to honour those we have lost, support those who are living with HIV and reaffirm our shared commitment to ending the HIV epidemic.
The theme for World AIDS Day 2025, Overcoming disruption, transforming AIDS response, highlights the importance of rebuilding momentum and ensuring continued progress in prevention, treatment and care. It reminds us that stigma and barriers to health still exist and that we must continue working to ensure equitable access to services for everyone.
We stand in solidarity with individuals, families, advocates, health care professionals and community organizations who are making a meaningful difference every day. Their dedication, expertise and compassion continue to save lives and strengthen communities.
York Region remains committed to promoting a future where people living with HIV experience dignity, respect and opportunity, and where new infections are prevented through education, awareness and collective action. By working together, we can support healthier communities and contribute to a world free of HIV and AIDS.
