Notice of Submission of Environmental Assessment for Teston Road
The Regional Municipality of York completed a Comprehensive Environmental Assessment (EA) Study in the City of Vaughan to identify road improvements near Teston Road. The study area is bounded by Kirby Road, Bathurst Street, Major Mackenzie Drive West and Highway 400.
As required under section 6.2(1) of the Environmental Assessment Act and according to the Terms of Reference approved by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks on December 20, 2018, York Region has submitted its environmental assessment to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks for review and a decision.
The Study
The Teston Road Area EA Study aims to generate solutions for transportation challenges and opportunities. The project considered improvements for vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and transit in the study area.
Recommended improvements
- Widening Teston Road from two to four lanes west of Keele Street to Rodinea Road and from Dufferin Street to Bathurst Street
- Extending Teston Road as a new four-lane roadway from Rodinea Road to Dufferin Street; a modified short-term solution is proposed along Teston Road (Keele to Dufferin) with a multi-use path
- Constructing an at-grade GO Rail crossing on Teston Road east of Keele Street with property protection to separate the road and tracks in the future, if needed
As required under the Environmental Assessment Act, the EA Report will be available for public review and comment from Friday, February 27 to Friday, April 17, 2026.
