Keswick Adult Day Program Celebrates Reopening of Renovated Backyard Patio and Garden
York Region recently celebrated the re-opening of the outdoor space at the Keswick Adult Day Program, welcoming clients, families, staff, community partners and regional and federal dignitaries to mark the completion of backyard renovations. The event highlighted York Region's ongoing commitment to creating accessible, inclusive and age-friendly spaces that support the well-being of older adults.
The revitalized space features refreshed gardens and a new accessible patio area that provides a safe, welcoming outdoor setting where participants can enjoy seasonal activities and social connection with family, friends and fellow program participants.
Completed through a partnership between York Region's Adult Day Programs and Housing and Homelessness Services, renovations began in fall 2025 to improve accessibility, safety and client experience. The enhanced space reflects a shared commitment to supporting healthy aging and creating environments that enable older adults to remain active, engaged and connected.
The event included remarks, a ribbon-cutting ceremony with clients and tour of the outdoor space. The celebration also recognized the contributions of staff, partners and clients who helped bring the project to life.
This milestone for the Keswick Adult Day Program will support client-centred programming and provide new opportunities for recreation, social interaction and outdoor enjoyment for years to come.
