Notice of Tree Removal on Bathurst Street
York Region is widening and improving Bathurst Street from north of Highway 7 to Major Mackenzie Drive in the City of Vaughan and City of Richmond Hill to accommodate growth and provide more travel options.
Improvements include:
- Widening the road to six lanes to include transit/High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes
- Building new sidewalks and cycle tracks
- Installing a storm sewer system and a watermain on behalf of the City of Richmond Hill
- Upgrading culverts, intersections and lighting
- Streetscaping and tree planting
Unfortunately, it is necessary to remove trees along the corridor to accommodate construction.
Tree removal will start in March 2026. Tree removals take place in March before birds make their nests, ensuring they aren’t disturbed. Tree planting will take place when the project is complete, anticipated in Fall 2028. A variety of new trees will be planted.
Tree work was planned in consultation with a certified arborist and complies with all local bylaws.
As with all construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather.
