Teston Road from Pine Valley Drive to Weston Road

Anticipated completion: Fall 2024
York Region is investing in building a safe, efficient and reliable Regional transportation network for all users. Improvements to Teston Road from 250 metres west of Pine Valley Drive to Weston Road in the City of Vaughan is beginning in November 2022 to accommodate growth and provide more travel options for all.

Improvements to Teston Road include:
- Widening and reconstructing the road from two to four lanes
- Realigning the intersection of Teston Road and Pine Valley Drive and adding new traffic signals
- Raising the road and constructing a new 45-metre span bridge at Purpleville Creek, realigning the creek channel, reinstating the natural habitat of the valley lands, and installing a new trail connection under the bridge
- Installing new sidewalks, cycling paths, and street lighting on both sides of the road
- Streetscaping and tree planting within the boulevards

Impacts to travellers throughout the project:
- Overnight or weekend work may be required
- A full road closure will be required from July to December 2023 to construct a 45-metre bridge at Purpleville Creek
Housing construction is happening on the south side of Teston Road. Lane reductions may be in effect to accommodate the work.

What are the benefits of this project?
Teston Road is being widened and reconstructed to accommodate growth in travel demand resulting from development in the area, providing additional capacity for all travellers.
New sidewalks, cycling paths, street lighting, streetscaping, and a new trail connection under the bridge will support pedestrians and cyclists.

How is the natural environment considered during construction?
The following environmental protection measures will be applied:
- Erosion and Sediment Control (“ESC”) measures will be implemented prior to, and maintained during, all construction phases to prevent the entry of sediment into the water
- All activities, including maintenance procedures, will be controlled to prevent the entry of petroleum products, debris, rubble, concrete, and other harmful substances into the water
- All disturbed vegetated areas will be stabilized and restored with native/non-invasive species upon the completion of work in that area
- Water discharge from dewatering activities associated with the construction of culverts or the installation of storm sewers will be directed to a filter bag (e.g. Terrafix envirobag) for treatment
- Construction equipment will not work or travel in any watercourse except as specified in the permits/approvals
