Lest We Forget: York Region honours the courage and sacrifice of all who have served
On this Remembrance Day, we pause to honour the courageous men and women who have served, and continue to serve, in the Canadian Armed Forces. Their sacrifices, dedication and unwavering commitment to the values we hold dear have shaped the foundation of our communities and our country.
Today, we remember not only those who made the ultimate sacrifice but also the families, friends and comrades who stood beside them. Their courage and resilience in the face of adversity have secured the rights and opportunities we all enjoy, and their legacy continues to inspire us every day.
We also honour the service and sacrifices of Indigenous veterans, whose contributions and resilience have played a vital role in defending our freedoms and strengthening our communities. Their courage reminds us of the diverse histories and experiences that have shaped Canada.
As we reflect on this legacy of service, we are reminded of our shared responsibility to ensure that every veteran, from all backgrounds and eras, is remembered and respected. This means honouring their sacrifices, preserving the full breadth of our military history and continuing to work toward a future grounded in peace, dignity and understanding for all who have served.
On this solemn day, we stand alongside residents across York Region and Canada to honour the bravery of those who have served and those who continue to defend our country. Their legacy lives on in the vibrant, welcoming and resilient communities we strive to build every day.
Lest we forget.
