Construction on Metro Road, Morton Avenue to Boyers Road

York Region is removing and replacing the asphalt road surface on Metro Road from Morton Avenue to Boyers Road in the Town of Georgina. A temporary road closure on Metro Road, south of Church Street, is required to accommodate a culvert replacement that allows water to run freely under the road and driveways. Guiderails and concrete barriers will be installed to provide protection between the roadway and potentially hazardous situations.

Duration: June to September 2026

Impacts to Travellers

• Lane restrictions are required
  • Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Metro Road will be temporarily closed south of Church Street for one weekend from 8 p.m. on a Friday to 5 a.m. on a Monday for culvert replacement (dates to be confirmed closer to closure)
  • Traffic will not be able to travel through the culvert site during the road closure
  • Local traffic will be permitted on either side of the road closure to maintain access to driveways

Access to homes and businesses will be maintained.

As with all construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather. York Region will provide advance notice where possible.
