Retaining Wall Rehabilitation on Wellington Street

York Region is rehabilitating a retaining wall on Wellington Street West, west of Yonge Street in the Town of Aurora. Retaining walls support soil or a slope that may not naturally hold its angle, making the ground more stable and preventing soil erosion.

Duration: August 2026 to October 2026

Impacts to Travellers

• Work will occur Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• The road will remain open to traffic
• The sidewalk on the south side of Wellington Street West between George Street and Mill Street will be closed for the duration of construction and pedestrians will be directed to use the north side sidewalk
• Access to homes and businesses will be maintained 

As with all construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather. York Region will provide advance notice where possible.
