Join us on Saturday, September 28, to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the York Regional Forest during National Forest Week! This special event is your chance to connect with nature, explore the Forest’s rich history and enjoy a day full of activities suitable for all ages.
This free, family-friendly event offers a unique blend of educational and fun activities, including guided forest walks, tours of the Bill Fisch Forest Stewardship and Education Centre, face painting, horse-drawn wagon rides and more. With a variety of activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Adventure Challenge: A Quest for Discovery
Track your journey across various Forest tracts using the Adventure Challenge. Collect stickers, uncover fascinating facts and engage with the natural environment in a fun and educational way. Stickers are available at all York Region Forestry events and at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum.

Connecting with Nature: Anishinaabemowin Translations
Join us in honoring Indigenous history by exploring the deep-rooted connections between Indigenous cultures and their lands.
Indigenous knowledge and languages offer unique insights into the natural environment, enriching our understanding and appreciation of the land. Each species holds significant cultural, ecological and spiritual value, and reflects a harmonious relationship with nature that has been nurtured for generations.

Forest100 Photo Contest
Are you a resident of York Region with a passion for photography? Do you love exploring and taking photos outdoors? Share your favourite photos of the York Regional Forest for your chance to win a fantastic prize.
Open to York Region residents 18 and older: Whether you're a seasoned photographer or just love taking pictures, this contest is for you. No photography experience required!
Monthly and grand prize: All winners will receive a Forest100 Jenga game and see their photo on York Region social media channels and featured in the 2025 York Region Forest100 Calendar. The grand prize winner will also receive a $100 prepaid e-gift card.
Endless opportunities: There is no limit to the number of unique photos you can submit during the contest period. Your picture could feature the Forest, a trail, a plant or an animal.
Eligibility
To be considered for a prize, each participant must:
- Submit at least one unique photo within the contest period
- Include where the photo was taken in the York Regional Forest along with a brief description
- Avoid using watermarks, text or logos on any photos
- Ensure the photos submitted are their own
Contestants may submit unlimited unique photo entries but are only eligible to win a prize once.
The Contest opens to residents of York Region who are at least 18 years of age, except York Region employees, York Region agents and Regional Council members. Read the full Rules and Regulations.
