Passover and Easter Greetings from York Region
On behalf of York Regional Council and The Regional Municipality of York, I extend warmest wishes to residents across York Region celebrating the Passover and Easter holidays.
Beginning the evening of Wednesday, April 1, 2026, Jewish communities across York Region and around the world will mark the start of Passover, commemorating the Exodus and the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt.
This eight-day festival is a powerful celebration of freedom, resilience and faith. It is also an opportunity for all of us to reflect on the importance of standing together against antisemitism, hatred and oppression in all its forms and to continue fostering safe, welcoming and inclusion communities for everyone.
From Good Friday on April 3 through Easter Sunday on April 5, 2026, Christian residents throughout our communities will observe Easter, a time to reflect on the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the enduring message of hope, compassion and renewal.
York Region is home to people of many faiths, cultures and backgrounds. This diversity continues to be one of our greatest strengths, shaping vibrant, connected communities where everyone belongs.
As we mark these important holidays, we honour the traditions and contributions of our Jewish and Christian communities and reaffirm our shared commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive York Region for all.
On behalf of Regional Council, I wish all those celebrating a joyful, meaningful and peaceful Passover and Easter.
