York Region celebrates the Year of the Horse
On behalf of York Regional Council and The Regional Municipality of York, I am pleased to extend warm wishes to all those celebrating Lunar New Year and welcoming the Year of the Horse.
Observed by many East and Southeast Asian cultures, including Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean communities among others, Lunar New Year is a time of renewal, reflection and joyful celebration with family and friends. It is an opportunity to honour traditions, express gratitude and look ahead with hope and optimism.
The Year of the Horse symbolizes energy, strength and perseverance. These qualities resonate strongly in York Region, where diversity is one of our greatest sources of vitality and success. More than half of our residents identify as a visible minority, with Chinese residents representing the largest group. This rich cultural diversity strengthens our communities and enriches our Region in countless ways.
As we celebrate the arrival of the new year, may it bring good health, happiness and prosperity to all.
