Join us for York Region Family Fun Day this weekend
Newmarket – The Regional Municipality of York is hosting its annual Family Fun Day open house on Saturday, May 23 in the Town of East Gwillimbury.
Family Fun Day is a free event for all ages.

What:
Enjoy fun for the whole family while learning about Regional services, including:
- Regional trucks and equipment, ambulances, firetrucks, police vehicles and interactive displays
- Face painting, henna and children’s activities
- $5 barbecue lunch in support of a local charity, ice cream and other snacks
- Photos with mascots
- Paint-a-Plow blade showcase and vote on designs by participating schools
- Guided York Region Transit (YRT) bus wash and facility tour via shuttle
Family Fun Day will open with a drum song at 10:30 a.m. by the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation.

National Public Works Week is celebrated May 17 to May 23, 2026, and is recognized across North America as an opportunity to showcase public works’ services and how they connect and support communities. Paramedic Services Week is being celebrated across Canada, offering an opportunity to honour frontline emergency medical personnel. This year’s theme, “Better Care Starts Here”, recognizes paramedics as trusted professionals delivering expert, compassionate, evidence-informed care while highlighting clinical excellence, public engagement, workforce resilience and integrated health care collaboration.
