York Region is committed to enhancing road safety through the 2024 to 2028 Vision Zero Traveller Safety Plan, launched last year.
Motor vehicle collisions remain a leading cause of death and disability, and the plan’s goal is to reduce severe collisions (those involving injury or death) by 10% over five years.
The plan outlines over 100 measures to work towards achieving our goal, including Automated Speed Enforcement, Red Light Cameras, intersection improvements, pedestrian and cycling improvements and school zone speed reductions.
The virtual public information meeting includes a presentation on the accomplishments of the first year, current data trends and safety measures planned for 2025. Participants will have the opportunity to use an interactive online mapping tool to provide feedback, which will be integrated into future initiatives.
