York Region announcing increased funding to advance affordable housing
Newmarket – The Regional Municipality of York invites media to attend a funding announcement. Through York Region’s Community Housing Supply Grant program, this funding will help advance much needed affordable housing options across the Region.

What:
- York Region’s Community Housing Supply Grant Program provides capital funding to non-profit and co-operative housing organizations that are ready to build new community housing units
- Introduced as a pilot in 2023, the program has since allocated nearly $10.2 million to support various projects, including:
- Blue Door in the Town of Newmarket: Project began construction in 2025 and will include 14 stacked townhouses, four emergency and transitional housing units and 10 affordable housing units
- Richmond Hill Ecumenical Homes Corporation in the City of Richmond Hill: Proposed intensification will add 90 new housing units, 37 of which will be affordable
