York Region Transit helping you celebrate safely with FREE rides on New Year’s Eve
Newmarket – York Region Transit (YRT) is offering free transit to travellers on New Year’s Eve after 7 p.m. and extending late-night service to get you to and from your celebrations safely. Free transit includes all YRT fares and On-Request and Mobility On-Request Paratransit services.
YRT service changes will also take effect on Sunday, December 21, 2025, and Sunday, January 4, 2026. Schedule and route adjustments will be made on select routes to match customer demand.
Changes effective Sunday, December 21, 2025, include:
- High School Special routes: Suspended during the two-week holiday closure
- Route 320 and 360: Added service to Vaughan Mills and Canada’s Wonderland
Changes effective Sunday, January 4, 2026, include:
- High School Special routes: Reinstated for 2026
- Route 2 – Milliken: Extended along Kirkham Drive on weekdays with improved frequency
- Route 13 – Islington: Extended north of Major Mackenzie Drive to Islington Avenue/Highway 27 and south of Steeles Avenue to Humber College Terminal with improved frequency; discontinued service along Napa Valley Avenue, however riders may use Route 85 – Rutherford as an alternative
- Route 415 – Stouffville District School Special: Added trips to meet growing demand
- Route 426 – Dr. G.W. Williams School Special via Stone: Discontinued second afternoon trip due to low ridership; riders may use first afternoon trip as an alternative
