York Region’s 2025 Community Report: Delivering resident priorities
Newmarket – York Regional Council received the 2025 Community Report, showcasing results reflecting residents’ key concerns. This annual report highlights achievements in fostering economic growth, strengthening community well-being, advancing environmental sustainability and ensuring the delivery of essential services to residents.
Each year, The Regional Municipality of York Community Report provides an update on progress made toward the 2023 to 2027 Strategic Plan and the financial results related to the Region’s budget.
“The 2025 Community Report provides a clear view of the progress we continue to make together as a Region, delivering essential services, strengthening communities and investing in the future responsibly,” said York Region Chairman and CEO Eric Jolliffe. “Through these collective actions, we continue to strengthen York Region to support our residents while laying a strong foundation for future generations.”
Key accomplishments include:
- Delivered 127 billion litres of clean and safe drinking water
- Achieved a 100% compliance rate on water quality systems
- Reached a 90% waste diversion rate
- Added 33 new paramedics
- Supported 5,600 residents through homelessness community programs
- Provided 23.7 million transit trips with 94% on-time performance
- Implemented Vision Zero safety measures at 214 locations
- Committed $25 million to help establish the York University School of Medicine
“As we entered the third year of York Region’s 2023 to 2027 Strategic Plan, our focus remained on advancing priorities in a complex and evolving environment,” said York Region Chief Administrative Officer Erin Mahoney. “With 75% of performance measures trending in the desired direction, we are making steady progress and remain committed to delivering value and building strong, caring, safe communities for our residents.”
The 2025 Community Report outlines successes from all public service departments and core service areas, including details of York Region’s long-term financial sustainability and investments to deliver high-quality services to a diverse and growing population of 1.3 million residents.
