YRT fare changes will take effect Wednesday, July 1, 2026
In November 2025, York Regional Council approved the 2026 Regional Budget which includes a 3% transit fare increase effective Wednesday, July 1, 2026. The fare increase will help cover rising operating costs due to high inflation and help support the cost of delivering service to the Region. This is the third year of a three-year annual fare increase.
Discounted YRT fares continue to be offered through PRESTO including:
- $2.60 for seniors (ages 65+)
- $2.60 for children (ages six to 12)
- $3.29 for youth (ages 13 to 19)
- $4.24 for adults (ages 20 to 64)
Discounted YRT fares continue to be offered through the PRESTO card, PRESTO mobile wallet and PRESTO E-Tickets.
YRT also offers several discount and fare assistance programs including the Transit Assistance Program, One Fare, Ride to GO and Fare Capping
