York Region officially welcomes Eric Jolliffe as new Regional Chair
Newmarket – The Regional Municipality of York is pleased to officially welcome Eric Jolliffe as the new Chairman and CEO. Chairman Jolliffe, who was appointed to the role by the provincial government, previously served as the Chief of Police for York Regional Police and brings a wealth of experience in public service and community leadership to this crucial role.
Chairman Jolliffe's distinguished career in law enforcement spans over three decades, during which he demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to public safety. As Chief of Police, he was instrumental in implementing innovative community policing strategies and fostering strong relationships between law enforcement and diverse communities.
"I am honoured to serve our community in this new capacity, and I look forward to collaborating with Council members, staff and residents to build upon the Region's strengths and address the important work that lies ahead,” said Chairman Jolliffe. “Together, we will strive to enhance the quality of life for all our residents and ensure our Region remains a vibrant and prosperous place to live, work and raise a family."
In his new capacity, Chairman Jolliffe will be responsible for overseeing the Region's strategic direction, working closely with Regional Council to address key issues facing our community. His expertise in public administration and crisis management will be key as the Region continues to navigate complex challenges and pursue opportunities for growth and development.

Chairman Jolliffe joins members of Regional Council to extend sincere gratitude to outgoing Chairman, Wayne Emmerson, for his long and dedicated service and significant contributions to the Region.
