During Canada Road Safety Week, York Region is highlighting its ASE program to promote safe driving, save lives and reduce injuries on Canadian roads.
ASE supports York Region’s multi-year Vision Zero Traveller Safety Plan, aiming to reduce severe collisions by 10% by 2028.
This year, York Region is installing 20 new ASE cameras in school zones across all nine cities and towns, totalling 40 fixed cameras by the end of 2025. The ASE program reduces vehicle operating speeds by approximately 10 km/h, increases speed limit compliance by approximately 25% and can reduce collisions by 48%.
York Region and our traffic safety partners, including York Regional Police, York Region Paramedic Services, local municipalities and CAA, have a collective commitment to safety, health and well-being of all within our communities.
