Information for Locates Service Providers

A Dedicated Locator (DL) helps find underground utilities for special projects, such as broadband. One Dedicated Locate Service Provider (DLSP) is contracted by the project owner to locate all underground infrastructure in a specific project area.
If you are a Dedicated Locator wanting to locate York Region’s underground infrastructure under the Dedicated Locator model, contact Ontario One Call to set up a profile and request a locate at least 90 days prior to the project start date.
Entering into an Agreement with York Region
After receiving notification from Ontario One Call regarding a DLSP project, York Region will take the following steps:
Step 1: York Region will review project areas to confirm the presence of Regional infrastructure. If potential infrastructure impact is identified, the Region will proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: You will be asked to complete the intake form and upload the following documents; please have them ready before starting the form:
- Certificate of Insurance (COI) in York Region's prescribed format
- Compliance with Dedicated Locator agreement requirements
- Detailed work area for the project duration, presented in maps or described phases
- Proof of WSIB compliance
- Signed Preferred DLSP form
Use Dedicated Locates Intake Form
Step 3: After receipt and verification of the above documentation, you will be asked to sign and return the following documents:
Step 4: Once the signed documents from Step 3 have been received, the Region will execute the Dedicated Locates Agreement and Preferred DLSP form. Final copies will be sent to you and Ontario One Call, granting the DLSP access to necessary mapping and drawings.
To provide dedicated locator services in York Region, compliance with the terms of the Region's standard Dedicated Locator agreement, Guide to Locating Your Region Underground Infrastructure, and Access to Drawings Non-Disclosure agreement is expected.
