Community Opinion Survey
York Region values the thoughts, opinions and perspectives of all residents.
To better understand resident needs, expectations and satisfaction with Regional programs and services, York Region conducts regular community opinion surveys. These surveys are led by a Canadian Research Insights Council accredited third-party vendor on behalf of York Region, using a survey sample reflective of York Region’s population and demographics according to the latest census data.
Community opinion survey results help identify top issues facing our communities, measure quality of life and satisfaction with core services, assess value for tax dollars and improve community engagement and communications.

What is the Community Opinion Survey?
The Community Opinion Survey is a resident survey that collects feedback on community priorities, quality of life, satisfaction with Regional services, value for tax dollars, community engagement, communications and more. Survey results help York Region understand the needs and opinions of our residents to enhance and improve our programs and services.
Who can participate in the survey?
To ensure accurate and credible results, residents are randomly selected to participate in the survey. Respondents must be York Region residents aged 18 or older.
Who is conducting the survey?
The survey is conducted by a Canadian Research Insights Council (CRIC) accredited third-party research vendor on behalf of York Region. If you receive a call from the research vendor to participate in the survey, the caller ID information may be displayed as “Tell City Hall”.
How is the survey conducted?
The survey follows a mixed-method approach. Residents can complete the survey online or by phone with a live agent. Recruitment is done through a random digit dial method to ensure all residents have an equal chance to participate.
How valid are the results?
Results have a margin of error of ± 2.5%, 19 times out of 20, with an accuracy rate of 95%. The results accurately represent York Region’s population and demographics according to the latest census data.
