York Region offers non-crisis services and supports for seniors as well as families and people living in community housing locations across the Region. To apply for any of these services, please fill out the intake form.
Housing York Inc. Social Work Program
York Region offers social work supports for residents living in Housing York Inc. Communities.
Eligibility
These services are available to individuals and households who live in Housing York Inc. communities and meet the eligibility criteria.
Client Intervention and Support Services
Client Intervention and Support Services is a social work program that helps seniors live independently in their communities.
Social work services include:
- In-home assessment
- Information and referrals to community programs and services
- Supportive counselling
- Advocating for client’s needs and/or rights
- Helping clients access appropriate services and resources
Areas of assistance may include:
- Elder abuse
- Finances
- Bereavement
- Managing family relationships/tensions
- Age-related future planning
- Other age-related concerns
- Support for family members/caregivers
Eligibility
These services are available to seniors 60 years of age or older who live in York Region and meet the eligibility criteria.
Community Housing Family Support Worker Program
York Region’s Community Housing Family Support Worker program helps stabilize households facing financial challenges by providing system navigation, financial education training, income benefits education and financial assessments to individuals and families who live in community housing across York Region.
Eligibility
These services are available to households who live in community housing in York Region and meet the eligibility criteria.
