Water and Wastewater Construction Projects
York Region has scheduled projects for building water and wastewater structures and facilities over the next 10 years. This 10-Year Capital Construction Program has been designed to meet the needs of York Region’s rapidly growing population.

East Gwillimbury
East Gwillimbury Treatment Plant Green Lane
York Region will be constructing a new groundwater treatment facility on Green Lane in the Town of East Gwillimbury.
Holland Landing Lagoon Carbon Sequestration Study
York Region and Lake Simcoe Regional Conservation Authority have begun a carbon sequestration study at the Holland Landing Lagoon site in the Town of East Gwillimbury. The study is looking to better understand the benefits of carbon sequestration in restored and naturally occurring prairie and grassland habitats.

Mount Albert Water and Wastewater Facilities
York Region will be rehabilitating the Mount Albert groundwater wells facilities, sewage pumping station, and the water resource recovery facility to extend the infrastructure lifespan and increase service capacity.

Georgina
Georgina Water Treatment Plant
York Region is rehabilitating and upgrading the Georgina Water Treatment Plant.
High Street and Woodriver Bend Sewage Pumping Stations Upgrade
York Region is looking to conduct upgrades to High Street and Woodriver Bend Sewage Pumping Stations in the community of Sutton to extend the pumping stations service life and expand wastewater servicing.
Completion date: Spring 2026
Keswick Water Treatment Plant
York Region is upgrading the standby generator system, concrete pad, and the electrical and HVAC systems. Periodically there will be additional construction vehicles in the area.
Completion date: Winter 2026
King
Nobleton Sewage Pumping Station
York Region is upgrading the Nobleton Sewage Pumping Station.

Nobleton Water Treatment Plant
York Region is upgrading well facilities and building a new Nobleton Water Treatment Plant to further enhance Nobleton’s drinking water system.

Markham
Leslie Street Sewage Pumping Station Upgrades
York Region is upgrading the facility and the electrical infrastructure at the Leslie Street Sewage Pumping Station.

Markham Reservoir Rehabilitation (PD5)
York Region is upgrading the Markham PD5 Reservoir located at 10615 McCowan Road.

York Region is replacing and upgrading valves and chambers in various location across York Region.

York Region is rehabilitating the Newmarket Glenway Facility.

Newmarket Wells Facility Upgrade
York Region is upgrading the Newmarket Wells 13 & 16 Facility to support a new water treatment process. As part of the work, multiple field studies are being conducted including:
- Topographical survey
- Inspection of the wells and facilities
- Geotechnical investigation
- Hydrogeological investigations
- Utility surveys

Richmond Hill
Oak Ridges Air Management Facility
York Region is building a new air management facility near the intersection of Yonge Street and King Road.
Completion date: Winter 2026
York Air Valves and Chambers Rehabilitation
York Region is replacing and upgrading valves and chambers in various location across York Region.

Vaughan
Humber Sewage Pumping Station to Black Creek Sewage Pumping Station Sewage Forcemain Rehabilitation
York Region is rehabilitating the twin sewage forcemain and chambers between the Humber Pump Station and Black Creek Pump Station. The rehabilitation work will extend the life of the forcemain and chambers. Before the rehabilitation work begins, York Region needs to conduct multiple field studies.

Northeast Vaughan Water - Phase One
New water infrastructure is needed to provide water service to the northeast Vaughan area.
