York Region celebrates Paramedic Services Week
On behalf of York Regional Council and The Regional Municipality of York, I am pleased to acknowledge May 21 to May 27, 2023, as Paramedic Services Week and recognize the women and men who work around the clock to keep more than 1.2 million York Region residents healthy and safe.
York Region’s paramedics are highly skilled professionals ready to respond at a moment’s notice to critical health emergencies across our community. Front-line paramedics meet York Region’s residents during some of their most challenging moments, always doing so with care and compassion.
This year’s theme, Diversity in Paramedicine-The Patient. The Provider. The Profession., aims to start a conversation about diversity in the health care system and the paramedic environment. It leans on data to ensure paramedics, operations and support staff are working together to provide equitable and high-quality care to every patient in the community.
During Paramedic Services Week and all year long, we recognize the passion, expertise and dedication of paramedics, emergency medical dispatchers and the network of paramedic support staff who help create safe, healthy communities for all residents in York Region.
On behalf of Regional Council and our residents, I extend our deepest appreciation to York Region’s paramedics and thank them for the important contributions they make to the community.
