Ride YRT for free on New Year’s Eve
York Region Transit (YRT) is offering free transit to travellers on New Year’s Eve after 7 p.m. and extended late night service.
YRT service changes will also take effect on Sunday, December 25, 2022 and Sunday, January 8, 2023. Schedule and route changes are made to meet changing customer demand.
Service changes effective Sunday, December 25, 2022:
- Schedule updates to meet holiday demand (suspension of High School Specials during the two-week holiday closure)
- Additional service to Vaughan Mills and Canada’s Wonderland via Routes 720 and 760
- Seasonal service begins to the Recreational Outdoor Campus (ROC) in the Town of Georgina with Route 50 and Mobility On-Request North
Service changes effective Sunday, January 8, 2023:
- Schedule adjustments to improve high school bell time connections
- Route 450 St. Theresa School Special via Tower Hill will be extended (as a pilot) to provide service along Jefferson Sideroad
- Route 720 will be suspended and will return in spring 2023 with the re-opening of Canada’s Wonderland
New amenities at Major Mackenzie West Terminal
The new Major Mackenzie West Terminal will open new amenities for travellers in early 2023. Located in the City of Vaughan at Major Mackenzie Drive West and Amusement Drive, the terminal is within walking distance of Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and Canada’s Wonderland. Major Mackenzie West Terminal partially opened in November and is nearing completion, with the remaining eight bus platforms, enclosed passenger waiting area and access to the hospital opening in early 2023.
