York Region mourns the deaths of Edmonton Police Constable Travis Jordan and Constable Brett Ryan
On behalf of York Regional Council and The Regional Municipality of York, I extend deepest condolences and sympathies to the family, friends, colleagues and loved ones of Edmonton Police Service Constable Travis Jordan and Constable Brett Ryan.
Constable Jordan, an eight-year veteran of the Edmonton Police Service, and Constable Ryan, a five-year veteran of the Edmonton Police Service, were killed while serving in the line of duty on Thursday, March 16, 2023, in the City of Edmonton.
The loss of a member of the police services is a loss not only to our individual communities, but to the country as a whole. The women and men who selflessly serve in our municipal police forces do so to protect the safety and well-being of our communities and uphold our justice system. Over the past year, we have mourned the loss of far too many people in uniform, and it saddens me to once again learn of officers killed in the line of duty.
Those who serve as paramedics, firefighters and police officers do so honourably, and we offer our support and condolences as they mourn the loss of a colleague.
As Chair of the York Regional Police Services Board, I join the residents of York Region, those in uniform and communities across the country in mourning the loss of two dedicated and hard-working members of the Edmonton Police Service.
We will keep Constable Jordan and Constable Ryan, their families and colleagues in our hearts as we collectively grieve this terrible loss.
