York Region mourns the death of Weeneebayko Area Health Authority Paramedic Arjanan Sivasathiyarajah
On behalf of York Regional Council and The Regional Municipality of York, I extend deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and loved ones of Weeneebayko Area Health Authority Paramedic Arjanan Sivasathiyarajah.
Arjanan was on a supply run with another paramedic and a nurse across the Albany River when their boat capsized on Monday, July 3, 2023. For days following the accident, members of the Kashechewan First Nation and neighbouring communities bravely and tirelessly supported search and rescue operations.
We offer our support to all first responders and our communities as they mourn the loss of a colleague in uniform. Paramedics serve residents during some of their most challenging moments, always doing so with care and compassion.
In honour of Arjanan, flags will be flying half-mast across all York Region Paramedic Services Stations and the York Paramedic Services Headquarters.
We will keep Arjanan, his family and his colleagues in our hearts as we grieve this terrible loss.
