Improvements coming to Ninth Line
Project update:
York Region’s contractor has completed asphalt repairs, manhole and catch basin adjustments, curb replacements and microsurfacing on Ninth Line in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. Pavement marking is currently underway. We anticipate the work to be completed over the next few days and nights. We appreciate your patience.
Transportation improvements prepare York Region to meet the needs of motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and transit users today and into the future. York Region is making improvements to Ninth Line.
Duration: September 2024 to late October 2024
Road improvements
- Initial work includes concrete repairs
- Once complete, a road preservation treatment, called microsurfacing, will be applied to Ninth Line
- Microsurfacing is a common and cost-effective way to maintain roads with minor defects and extends the road’s life
- Road surfaces can feel rougher and sound noisier after treatment, but over time, stone will settle and surfaces will become quieter
Impacts to travellers
Lane closures are limited to:
- Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- The road will remain open to through traffic; however, lane closures are required
- Access to homes and businesses may be temporarily disrupted
As with all construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather. York Region will provide advance notice where possible.
